Welcome to the Robert C. Parker School

Setting The Stage For A

Boundless Future

We are an independent school for boys and girls from toddlers to pre-school through 8th grade, 10 minutes from downtown Albany. Parker students cultivate critical thinking and purposeful action through a challenging learning process.

Inspiring Curiosity and a Passion for Learning

Attitudes and dispositions about learning are established when students are young. By giving students individual attention from caring adults, engaging hands-on projects, and time to play and connect with peers, our graduates leave Parker prepared for high school because they know themselves as learners.

Nurturing Confidence and Community

Students who learn in the same school from preK to grade 8 have a strong sense of community. Parker students take on new leadership and responsibilities as they advance through the grades. They are well known and this fosters a sense of confidence and leadership in each one.

Cultivating Purposeful Action

We believe that by giving students a chance to take action as they learn about the world, they will grow into adults who take responsibility for their communities. We know that our graduates will be among the most highly educated members of society, and their active participation will contribute to a better world.

ParkerMission

Robert C. Parker School engages each student in a thoughtful and challenging learning process that inspires curiosity and a passion to achieve, nurtures confidence and community, and cultivates purposeful action.

Exploring Our 77-Acre Campus

Parker students explore and expansive 77-acres that includes forest trails, a tree-house classroom, butterfly garden, pond and meadows. Students are outdoors in all seasons and the campus is often the inspiration for our learning.

A Love of Learning

Attention to each child and focus on emerging interests is key to our play-based preschool. Students blossom in an environment that cultivates connections between students and prizes growing curiousity.

Educating for Innovation

All students in grades K-8 are taught science by a specialist science teacher. The brand-new 3,200-square-foot Parker Discovery Center contains a huge science lab with easy access to the outdoors.

Student Leadership

An eighth grader teaches lower school students about water quality during the annual Day in the Life of the Hudson trip. Parker connects students across the grades, so that as students get older we cultivate responsibility and leadership.

Success in life is about more than just taking tests.

"The teachers and staff clearly value each child as an individual and also as a contributing member of the school community. They pour themselves into the work of educating our children academically and socially."

Parker Parent

"We wanted to try something other than public school. We were excited to see the energy of Parker when we visited."

Parker Parent

"It didn't take me many steps into the building to know that Parker was where we belonged, I was just disappointed we hadn't taken this step sooner."
