Middle School Engine Project

In October, Robert C. Parker School 6th grade and 7th grade students examined, IMG_2529disassembled and repaired small combustion engines with engineering expert Len Berube.

A scenario was posed: there is a polar scientific research station that has lost it’s power. Parker students need to repair four engines to send to the research station so they can continue their work.

See what happens when teams of kids are provided with tools and taught how to use them!

At the end of the project students wrote newspaper articles describing what they learned and how it all worked.  This was a terrific STEM experience!
