Parents

paretns at the Parker School

In 1991, a group of parents dedicated to academic excellence in a small and nurturing environment came together, and Robert C. Parker School was established. Their spirit of commitment and the partnership among faculty, staff and parents live on today in the Parker Parent Council.

The scope of Parent Council can best be summed up in one idea: community-building. Parent Council hosts a variety of endeavors designed to enrich students' educational experience as well as foster a strong sense of school spirit and connections among parents—whether an event for the whole family to enjoy, like Fall Festival, or making soup for Faculty Appreciation Week.

Parental partnership is an integral part of the Parker tradition. Parent Council supports our students, families, and faculty.  Come and join us! Here are some of the many opportunities for volunteering:

Parent Council Officers – set the annual agenda; monitor funds; recruit Room Parents and volunteers; generate great ideas; make things happen!

Room Parents – help classroom teachers; coordinate volunteers and the class booth at Fall Festival; help out in the classroom with pizza on Shakespeare Night; keep class parents informed through emails.

Events - Fall Festival, Faculty Staff Appreciation Week, Parent Wine and Cheese Party, Ice Cream Sundae Bar on Field Day, and other unique annual events such a STEM Night, BINGO Night, Middle School bonfire, hot-cocoa on the playground, or a night out at a hockey game.

Other ways to volunteer - Helping out on Community Work Days; driving and chaperoning for field trips and away games; Classroom Guest Readers; Tinker-time volunteers; staffing the Scholastic Book Sales; selling used books on Read Across America Day; skiing chaperones; Camp Chingachgook chaperones; bringing unique talents and skills to assemblies and class meetings; Admission Ambassadors; library helpers.
