College Connections: Fresh Perspectives

Our region is blessed with so many wonderful colleges and universities and Parker has several ongoing partnerships.

Our program of student teachers from Hudson Valley and College of St. Rose is a benefit for both sides.  Student teachers learn about an integrated project-based way of teaching from our master teachers, and we get the energy and extra hands these future teachers provide.

Sage College assistant professor and Parker parent Janice Medina’s design class is working on a project envisioning a renewed Parker Library, gym and classrooms.  They will be doing their final presentation on March 18.  We know we will benefit from their fresh vision.

Last year, parent Erik Eddy, a marketing professor at Siena, asked his class to take on Parker as a case study. Their projects and feedback about marketing the school gave us many insights and great ideas.

This year we are working with another Siena professor whose class is analyzing the intersection of the mission and program of independent schools and how it is communicated to prospective families.  You may be getting a call or a survey!  The student presentation will be in April.
