Campus
An ideal environment for children to explore and grow.
We designed and built our school building in 1998 on 77 acres of rolling farmland just a few miles from the Hudson River. Every window looks out on the surrounding fields and woods, reflecting the beauty of the changing seasons.
Parker features specialized classrooms that are large and airy, many equipped with in-class sinks and bathrooms. There is also a new Discovery Center with a science lab, an art studio, music studio, and student kitchen. Our library is a cozy space with a large collection of literature and source materials for all ages.
We have a full gymnasium, and a multi-purpose eating and performance area. Two playgrounds offer play structures designed to spark the imagination of all ages. We also have a playing field for soccer and baseball, and plenty of open space for impromptu games of touch football, races, sledding and other recess favorites.
Hidden in the woods are a tree house classroom and a wetlands observation deck. Children love to explore “Tree Island” and the secret tire swing. Paths meander through the meadow and woods – perfect for finding toads, butterflies, bugs, and plants. We have a woodshop, raised planting beds, bee hives, and a composting center that were built and are maintained by middle school students.
An outdoor pavilion classroom was added in 2011. At the edge of the woods, it is the perfect setting for science or math class - or for a picnic lunch. The amphitheater that surrounds it is a great space for Planet Parker Summer performances.
Solar panels and a solar data collection system were installed in 2004 through a grant from NYSERDA. They connect us to 50 schools statewide and provide extra power for the school as well as a platform for alternative energy and weather studies.
